Spring is around the corner!

As the world starts to slowly thaw out around us, we get to take stock of where things stand and what we would like to accomplish for the year.  We here at the Library have our list, certainly, and the many resources we offer can help you develop yours – whether it’s improving your home, fixing your car, learning a new skill, working on a new craft project, or helping your kids develop their reading skills, the Library can help you!

The Library has been holding Choose Civility discussions each month, encouraging people to discuss important community issues.  We’ve been very happy with how they’ve gone thus far, and encourage you to check them out for yourself!

We’ll be doing some work on the sidewalks at the Main Library, and while we don’t anticipate any changes to our hours because of it, we do ask that people be patient with us as we work to improve our walkways.

Staff have been busy partnering with local teachers to provide programs to their classes, and we’d like to remind everyone that every student in Garrett County’s public schools has their own fine-free Student Card with which to check out books and access our online resources – every student in the County has access to free tutoring, free language-learning software and free reliable resources for research projects, so be sure to take advantage of it!

Summer Reading will be upon us sooner that you think, and we’re inviting everyone this year to take part in the “Universe of Stories” – we’ve got several out-of-this-world surprises lined up!

There’s something for everyone here - come on in to the Library and see what we have for you!
