Choose Civility Garrett County

We at the Ruth Enlow Library are very happy to announce our plans as a Choose Civility affiliate this year.  Developed by the amazing people at the Howard County Library System, and supported by a grant from the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA), Choose Civility is a nationwide program that tries to bring out the best in people throughout the community by encouraging understanding, kindness and constructive conversations about the issues that affect us all. 

Your Library knows that there are many out there that want an opportunity to share their views in a respectful, nonpartisan atmosphere, and we will be encouraging people this year to join us for public discussions on important community issues.  Additionally, the Library will be distributing fascinating and informative books to people throughout the community, encouraging them to “Choose Civility:  Pass It Along” by giving those books directly to someone else once they’ve been read – we look forward to seeing how far civility can spread!
