HomeSchoolers @ the Library typically meets on the first Friday of the month September- November and January- May. Our volunteer presenters offer a wide variety of enrichment programs for home school children and their families.

Pre-registration is required. Space is limited.

Kevin Dodge, Professor of Wildlife and Biology at Garrett College will present this month's "Wildlife in our Wetlands" program. Participants will learn about our local wetlands and the animals that live there. A hands-on activity will follow the presentation.

Young Readers' Book Club  4:00 PM - 5:00 PM  Children's/Teens
Branch: Oakland Meeting Room
Young Readers Book Club is a book discussion group for readers in grades 6 through 8.  The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month from September through November and January through May.
 
You must be pre-registered to attend this program.
 
Students will be provided with books that they will read and discuss with the group.  They will also enjoy a craft, game, or activity and a snack based upon themes relevant to the particular book selected for the program.

This month's book selection is The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart.

Lego Club-Cancelled  6:00 PM - 7:00 PM  Children's/Teens

Today's Lego Club is cancelled due to the weather. This program will not be rescheduled. Our next meeting is February 27th for our Dream Homes theme.

Lego Club is designed for children ages 4-12 and features free building time with lots of building bricks. Children are encouraged to build a creation based on a new theme each month. Staff may photograph and/or display completed builds in the library.

Lego Club typically meets on the fourth Monday of the month from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and registration is required.

This month's theme is Transportation.

STEM Kids is a program designed for children ages 6 to13 featuring a variety of activities that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM Kids programs are typically scheduled on days when school is released early for staff development. Pre-registration is required for this event, as spaces are limited.

STEM Kids programs will be cancelled and not rescheduled on days that Garrett County Public Schools are cancelled or delayed.
