Story Tails  3:30 PM - 4:30 PM  Children's/Teens
Branch: Accident Accident
This month we will have Gipper here with us for StoryTails: Children Reading to Dogs. This drop-in program is designed to help children develop confidence in reading.  Each child reads to a dog for about 15 minutes with the dog's handler sitting nearby to give reading assistance if necessary.  All dogs are certified by Therapy Dogs International. At the end of the reading session, each child will receive a bookmark with a picture of the dog that they read to.  This program provides a great opportunity for kids who need to work on reading skills and would like the opportunity to read to an animal.

National Hot Tea Month Tea Party  2:30 PM - 3:30 PM  Adult Services
Branch: Accident Accident

Celebrate National Hot Tea Month at the Accident Library

January is National Hot Tea Month, and the Ruth Enlow Library invites you to celebrate with a tea party at the Accident Branch on Tuesday, January 31, from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.  The library will host Adrianne (Andee) Thompson, co-owner of the Tea Cupboard in Cumberland, Maryland, for an hour of tea tasting and discussion about the history, categories, and health benefits of tea. “I will bring cupping sets to provide a tasting experience in the way it’s done on the tea plantations,” said Thompson, “as well as a couple of the Tea Cupboard’s most popular teas, so guests can enjoy a cuppa!”

Thompson has been giving tea lectures for nine years, as well as tea classes through the Continuing Education Department at Allegany College in Cumberland. She and her husband Bob expanded the Tea Cupboard to include a Tea Room and to offer a number of other artistic and social events to the community.

To register for this free event, contact Crystal at 301-746-8792 or crystal@relib.net.

Support for this event is provided by the Western Maryland Regional Library, the regional resource center for the public libraries of Allegany, Garrett, and Washington Counties.
