Children Services Branch: Oakland Meeting Room A children's program designed especially for babies and toddlers (children age three and under). LapSit is a special program that incorporates singing, rhymes, stories, and other activities that will entertain and stimulate children’s language skills. A parent or caregiver must stay with the child for the program.

If you saw here that it was cancelled due to meetings, those meetings were rescheduled and will no longer conflict with story time.

Children Services Branch: Accident Accident Library This month we will have Maggie and Molly here with us for StoryTails: Children Reading to Dogs. This program is designed to help children develop confidence in reading. Each child reads to a dog for 15-20 minutes with the dog's handler sitting nearby to give reading assistance if necessary. All dogs are certified by Therapy Dogs International. At the end of each reading session, each child will receive a bookmark with a picture of the dog that they read to. This program provides a great opportunity for kids who need to work on reading skills and would like the opportunity to read to an animal!!

Children will enjoy an hour of stories, crafts and activities on MONDAYS from 11:00am - NOON. Birth - Age Eight are welcome to attend with an adult; the focus group is preschoolers age 3-5.Throughout this hour, children will build social, listening, vocabulary, & creative skills as well as letter and number recognition =O)

Children Services Branch: Oakland Meeting Room This book club will meet at 4:00 pm every second and fourth Tuesday. Meetings will begin the second Tuesday in September, and will last from September to November, and from January through May.
You must be pre-registered to attend this program.
Students will be provided with books that they will read and discuss with the group, as well as complete a craft and have a snack based on the themes relevant to the particular book selected for the meeting. If interested please contact Keela Pfaff at 301-334-3996 ext. 115.
