A children's program designed especially for babies and toddlers (children age three and under).  LapSit is a special program that incorporates singing, rhymes, stories, and other activities that will entertain and stimulate children’s language skills.  A parent or caregiver must stay with the child for the program.

 Children's Hour is a program for preschoolers ages 3-5, held on Thursdays from 10:30am to 11:30am, September through May.  Children's Hour promotes creative expression, social skills, listening comprehension, nutrition, and school readiness and includes STEM activities, stories, games, experiments, music and crafts.

Join us for this free Gardening Class at the Oakland Library, presented by the Garrett County Master Gardeners from University of Maryland Extension. We are hosting author and speaker Ned Tillman on Monday, May 18, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. for a presentation and discussion of his latest book Saving the Places We Love: Paths to Environmental Stewardship. Tillman is a speaker on energy and environmental issues, and a Sustainability Advisor. Young Readers' Book Club  4:00 PM - 5:00 PM  Children Services

Young Readers Club is a book discussion group for readers age nine through twelve.  The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month from September through November and January through May.
 
You must be pre-registered to attend this program.
 
Students will be provided with books that they will read and discuss with the group.  They will also enjoy a craft, game, or activity and a snack based upon themes relevant to the particular book selected for the program.  If interested please contact Julie Iden at 301-334-3996 ext. 104.
