Young Adult Book Club is a book discussion group for readers in grades 9 -12.  The group typically meets on the first Monday of each month.

Share your love of reading with others. Discuss books- the highlights, the lowlights, and everything in between!

HomeSchoolers @ the Library typically meets on the first Friday of the month September- November and January- May. Our volunteer presenters offer a wide variety of enrichment programs for home school children and their families.

Today's "Homeschoolers Got Talent" program will be presented by the homeschoolers. Come prepared to wow us with your unique skills, talents or interests. Each child will be given approximately two minutes to present their chosen topic. The possibilities are limitless, as long as it can be performed in the meeting room. Your could sing a song, play a musical instrument, recite poetry, perform a dance routine, do a science experiment, perform magic tricks, share your favorite collection, or share information on a topic that you are an expert on. You may join with other homeschoolers for a group performance. A lap top and projector will be provided if you want to prepare a PowerPoint presentation. Please bring your own flash drive, props, visual aids, etc. Parents are encouraged to stay and enjoy the show. A snack will follow to celebrate your talents and to thank you for supporting our homeschool programs.

The Accident library will be celebrating Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 6, with walk-in activities and free comic books during normal operating hours. The comic books are provided by Diamond Comics. Registration is not required. For questions, contact Connie at 301-746-8792. STEM Kids  2:00 PM - 3:30 PM  Children's/Teens

STEM Kids is a program designed for children ages 6 to13 featuring a variety of activities that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM Kids programs are typically scheduled on days when school is released early for staff development. Pre-registration is required for this event, as spaces are limited.

STEM Kids programs will be cancelled and not rescheduled on days that Garrett County Public Schools are cancelled or delayed.

Young Readers' Book Club  4:00 PM - 5:00 PM  Children's/Teens
Branch: Oakland Meeting Room
Young Readers Book Club is a book discussion group for readers in grades 6 through 8.  The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month from September through November and January through May.
 
You must be pre-registered to attend this program.
 
Students will be provided with books that they will read and discuss with the group.  They will also enjoy a craft, game, or activity and a snack based upon themes relevant to the particular book selected for the program.

This month's book selection is Raven's Gate by Anthony Horowitz

Homeschoolers will present their science fair projects on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. 

Our Homeschooler Series meets on the third Thursday of the month September- November and January- May. Our volunteer presenters offer a wide variety of enrichment programs for home school children and their families. Pre-registration is required.

If school in Garrett County is cancelled due to weather, then the Homeschoolers Series will be cancelled. If there is a weather delay, Homeschoolers Series will meet as scheduled.

Lego Club  6:00 PM - 7:00 PM  Children's/Teens
Branch: Oakland Meeting Room
Lego Club is designed for children ages 4-12 and features free building time with lots of building bricks. Children are encouraged to build a creation based on a new theme each month. Staff may photograph and/or display completed builds in the library.

Lego Club typically meets on the fourth Monday of the month from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and registration is required.

This month's theme is Gardens/Plants.
