Story Tails  3:30 PM - 4:30 PM  Children Services

This month we will have Maggie and MacKenzie here with us for StoryTails: Children Reading to Dogs.  This drop-in program is designed to help children develop confidence in reading.  Each child reads to a dog for about 15 minutes with the dog's handler sitting nearby to give reading assistance if necessary.  All dogs are certified by Therapy Dogs International. At the end of the reading session, each child will receive a bookmark with a picture of the dog that they read to.  This program provides a great opportunity for kids who need to work on reading skills and would like the opportunity to read to an animal

Library Cafe Campout  10:30 AM - 11:30 AM  Children Services
Branch: Oakland Meeting Room
  To kick off a summer of learning and fun, the Ruth Enlow library and the Garrett County Judy Center are holding a Library Cafe on Wednesday, June 10th from 10:30 to 11:30 at the Oakland library. This "Campout" themed program is for children ages birth to five and their families. Parents please join us for a conversation about "play!" and tell us how your library can better serve you and your children. Enjoy a hearty snack, share ideas, and learn the importance of play. The program will include activities for the children and giveaways. This event is free and open to the public. Those planning to attend are asked to contact Julie at 301-334-3996, X104 or julie@relib.net, so that the library will know how many people to expect.
