Come to an Open House Demonstration to meet Polaris - our new online catalog - on Monday, July 2, at 2 p.m. or 6 p.m., in Grantsville Library's meeting room. Information covered will include basic searches, placing holds, managing personal accounts, and, time permitting, saving a search and creating lists. Join us for a lecture by Chris Meister, author of “James Riely Gordon: His Courthouses and Other Public Architecture,” at the Oakland Library on Monday, July 2, at 6 p.m. The Garrett County Courthouse is among the courthouses featured in his large-format, 334-page book that contains 150 black-and-white and 54 color photos, along with a subject and location index. In addition to his lecture, Meister will sell and sign copies of his book at this event, which is free and open to the public. Books are $50 each, cash only.  Registration is not required, but a courtesy call or email to the contact listed below is highly encouraged and appreciated.

Trained staff representing the Maryland Insurance Administration will be available at the Grantsville Library from 1:30 - 5 p.m. to answer questions and provide consumer materials on all type of insurance products. "A key aspect of the Maryland Insurance Administration’s mission involves educating the citizens of our state about the choices available to them as consumers of insurance products,” says Therese M. Goldsmith, Maryland Insurance Commissioner.

Wednesday Night Chess at the Accident Branch of the Ruth Enlow Library

 

Anyone interested in the game of chess is welcome to drop in between 5 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday through September, starting July 25th.  If there is interest, we’ll continue it either year-round or April – October.  All skill levels are welcome.  We have seven chess sets available, or you can bring your own.  Come to watch, come to learn, come to practice, come to be challenged, and come to play!  If anyone has a timing clock, that might be interesting to bring along.
