Daisy Townsend will talk about her latest book - Sarah's Legacy

Book Talk and Signing with Author Daisy Townsend

The Grantsville Library will host Daisy Beiler Townsend, former resident of Grantsville and author of Sarah’s Legacy, a work of historical Christian fiction set in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, on Monday, June 11, from 3 – 7:30 p.m. Townsend will sell and sign books starting at 3 p.m. and at 6 p.m. will give a reading and book talk. This event is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact the library at 301-895-5298 or email kim@relib.net.

A certified pastoral counselor who has been writing and publishing for more than 30 years, Townsend decided to write an historical fiction series inspired by research that she and her husband did of their home in Sandy Lake, built around 1860. Although many of the people and the events in her book are real, the characters Townsend has created and the story she has written are a work of fiction.

The book description of Sarah’s Legacy reads, “Exuberant, 18-year-old Polly Dye, torn between pleasing her mother and pleasing her beau, moves with her family into a house that evokes a chilling sensation as she steps over the threshold. She can't decide whether something bad has happened here or if something bad is going to happen. Soon Polly discovers the diary of the original owner, Sarah Davis. She hopes it will answer her questions about the dark foreboding she senses in the house. Instead, she wrestles with the many losses Sarah experienced while still maintaining her faith in God.”

Townsend’s work has been published in Guideposts, The Upper Room, The Secret Place, New Man, Christian Home, and a number of other Christian periodicals. She published her autobiographical devotional book, Homespun Faith, in 2014. In addition to being a pastoral counselor, she and her husband also served with One Mission Society as missionaries in Japan. Townsend grew up in Grantsville and lives in Greenville, PA.
