First off, I wanted to say thank you so much to those who have reached out to us to inquire and offer help – the situation at the Library has been brought under control, and while we’re going to be recovering for a bit, nobody was hurt and damage fairly minimal.

Some of you may have noticed our roof being replaced over the past week – work was actually completed Monday, and the roof itself is in good shape.  Unfortunately, the connections between the newly installed roof drains and the existing plumbing were bad, and the storm that came through on Wednesday was too much for them – the water overwhelmed them and streamed in through the ceiling tiles.  Staff were quickly alerted and worked hard to rescue materials from being damaged – thanks to their quick action and their dedication, we were able to save quite a lot in the affected areas, and none of the irreplaceable materials in Local History/Genealogy were affected.

Repairs have been completed, and we're back in action!  Once again, we all really appreciate the outpouring of support, and I wanted to specifically celebrate the excellence of the Library’s staff in saving the day – as well as the help of Jason King and the folks at the County.
