The Friendsville Library is moving into temporary quarters at the Friendsville Senior Center, and during October services and hours may be impacted. We apologize for the inconvenience!
Accident
**September Special**
It's Library Card Sign Up Month! The library isn't just for books anymore! We have video games, auto repair manuals, and movies all FREE with your library card. Sign up for a card at the Acccident Library and have your name entered into a raffle for a prize. All you need is a state ID with current address (or a parent with you if under 18). Even if you only live here part-time, you can still get one! One winner will be drawn the first week of October. (One entry per each new card holder. Must be able to pick up the prize at the Accident Library- we cannot mail it.)
The Accident Library is a branch of the Ruth Endow Library that opened on December 19th, 1977. Located only a minute off of US 219 and just 8 minutes away from Deep Creek Lake, we offer five public computers that are equipped with internet access and Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. We also offer free wireless access to our users, and provide copying, printing, scanning and faxing services for a small fee.
Our collection includes video games, books, DVDs & Blu-Rays, Literacy Kits and Binge Boxes. There is a Nintendo Switch in our Teen space where you can relax with friends. You can request a video game and pick it up here to play at home! We also have toys (trains! Blocks!) and a soft couch for curling up with a good story in our children’s area.
You don’t have to live in Garrett County to become a library patron -- we offer library cards to residents who visit from anywhere in the United States. On vacation? Come on by! Bring your ID and you'll quickly be on your way with a new beach read that you can drop off on your way home. We also have a year-round book sale with a variety of books for adults and kids, priced from 0.20 to 1.00.
Our library offers programming for all ages. Reoccurring programs include Summer Reading Club (June-August), Children's Storytime (Sept-May), Adult Book Club, and Needlework. You can see all our upcoming programs on the right (or below if on a phone).
Our library is open to the community and we love that you see our space as both a resource and a gathering place where you can enrich your mind and meet friends and neighbors. Stop in, get acquainted, and find out how useful and enjoyable your library can be!
