Summertime and the readin' is easy...

Summer is here and it’s time to get reading!

The Library’s Summer Reading Club is off and running – or perhaps swimming, as this year’s theme is “Oceans of Possibilities” and we’ve got a lot of great aquatic activities available to keep kids active!  With partners like the National Aquarium and University of Maryland Extension you’re sure to learn fascinating things, and with Talewise and Bow Tie Guy in the mix, the kids are bound to have a great time doing it as well!  Our kickoff event will take place on Monday, June 27th – 10:30 at the Main Library or 6:00 at Grantsville – with “Pirates Lost At Sea:  Science Adventure” and we’re looking forward to seeing you there.  Sign up for the Summer Reading Club here today, get a pile of great reading material for yourself and the kids at the Library, and help them keep those reading skills sharp – the “summer slide” is real, after all, and today’s readers are tomorrow’s success stories!  And we can’t forget to recognize our amazing Friends of the Library here – their support made our Summer Reading Club happen and we appreciate everything they do!

And we encourage our adult patrons to challenge themselves as well – our Reading Challenge is in full swing, and we have a display set up at the Main Library right now to help you locate those more difficult-to-find categories.  Additionally, you can still earn collectable buttons for reading classic literature – give one of these titles a try and see what makes them so memorable!

Take some time for yourself this summer, rediscover what it’s like to slow down, to disconnect, and to lose yourself in a book – the book that can change your life and way of thinking might be just around the corner!
