Author Event with George Cowgill

Join local author George Cowgill for a history talk and book signing in the Community Room of the main library (Oakland) on Wednesday, June 28 at 6:30 PM. Mr. Cowgill will be discussing his recent book Another Visit to the Mountaintop: "A History of Mt. Lake Park, MD 1881 - 1921".

Another Visit to the Mountaintop provides a thoroughly researched history of the "Mountain Chautauqua". The focus is on the heyday of the "Park", from 1881 through 1921. With hundreds of photos and many first-hand accounts, the book recaptures the time when thousands of summer visitors flocked to the "Mountaintop".

George Cowgill spent his formative years in Deer Park, Maryland. He is an engineer and inventor, having been awarded more than 40 U.S. Patents. Mr. Cowgill earned a Master of Science Degree in Information Technology from Towson University in 2011. He is a lifelong history buff and he plans on writing another book on local history. He and his wife live in, you guessed it, Mountain Lake Park, Maryland.
